Description:
This introductory Adobe Illustrator workshop for scientists is crafted with two main goals. First, it seeks to introduce the basic principles and techniques of Adobe Illustrator, making them accessible and relevant to scientists. Second, it aims to equip participants with the skills necessary to efficiently produce data figures that meet publication standards. Over the course of two afternoon sessions, participants will: - gain familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, learning to navigate its interface and organize documents effectively through artboards and layers - master essential techniques such as manipulating shapes, using transformation tools, aligning and organizing objects - learn advanced techniques including image and text handling, clipping masks, paths, and the pen tool - participate in hands-on practice to craft a figure ready for publication, including addressing common challenges when integrating diverse data into a cohesive visual narrative. About the trainer: Dr. Belen Pacheco-Fiallos is a biochemist with a passion for visual science communication. She has been using Adobe Illustrator for 10+ years to create figures for research papers and reviews, learning to efficiently craft multi-panel figures. She aims to share this knowledge with you with you so that you can focus on your next exciting experiment instead of manually changing colors.
