Description:
1st part: Participants shall gain theoretical background on
Biology (behavior, husbandry, genetics, health aspects) of Zebrafish, frog and/or rat, mice.
Furthermore ethical considerations as well as the legal framework for the work with laboratory animals in Austria are communicated
2nd part: dedicated to intensive handling training (restraining, injection and blood withdrawal techniques, etc.) with fish, frog and/or rodents.
Target group: All scientific and not scientific staff having started at IST and is supposed to work with the target species of the course.
Prerequisites: no experience or previous knowledge required
Evaluation: A successful attendance of the course (positive theoretical exams) is required for a course certificate. Grading scheme: pass/fail.
Teaching format: Theoretical lessons (talks) and practical training with animals.
