Description:
The course will introduce students to the unique and exciting physics of two-dimensional electronic systems that are realized in van der Waals heterostructures and other material platforms. It will cover some fundamentals concepts in 2D electronic systems, including the BKT superconducting transition, the integer and fractional quantum Hall effects that emerge at high magnetic fields, and other topological or superconducting electronic phenomena. In addition, the course will cover recent progress in 2D flat electronic bands, where strong interactions produce several novel electronic phases.
